An afternoon running network cable
This morning my nephew David came over to the house to assist me in running some Ethernet cable from my office next to the garage over to my den so that I have a network connection available to the new 42" flat panel TV we bought to connect our DirecTV satellite box to.
I intend to move my Mac Mini over there once I have purchased a 24" iMac to replace it. Also, I want to keep an XBox 360 over there also as a Media Extender to look at pictures and movies that I have on my home network.
UNDER THE HOUSE: NO GO
At first, we tried running the cable UNDER the house and we were partially successful. That is, we got the cable run under the house and out under near the wall where we wanted it to go into the den, but we were unable to drill a hole in the wall to punch the cable through.
IN THE ATTIC
So then it was on to Option # 2: Stringing the cable from my office to the house, in the house via an attic opening above my son's bedroom and across the house via the attic. That proved to be successful and now I have an Ethernet cable near the den where the Entertainment center is going to go.
I gave my nephew $60.00 for his time and the discomfort of having to crawl under my house and in my attic.
I am really glad this is taken care of.
