    2006 Nissan Altima

30K mile service completed on the Altima

After much postponing, this morning we finally dropped off AJ's car for service at the Nissan dealership in Torrance where we bought the car.

    What they did:

    1. Rotate the tires
    2. Check the brakes
    3. Tune-up
    4. Oil Change
    5. Top off all fluids
    6. Multi-point inspection

    How much:  $380.00

For what it's worth, they claim that the brakes are OK and they do not need replacing. For now.

It's simply amazing how much gouging car dealership service departments can get away with under the umbrella of "make sure you don't void your warranty, get dealer approved service".  Well, it's done and now to wait another 20,000 miles for the big 50K mile service to rear its inevitable and surely quite expensive, head.

    *sigh*

No car at work: Cafeteria food for me

Due to the fiasco yesterday with my son's flat tire, we had to do a car scramble last night (since MY Corvette is *still* at Champion getting its electrical short looked at) and the wife ended up giving me a ride to work this morning.

So, I have no car at work today and as such, I just got back to my desk from walking to the campus cafeteria to have a mediocre cheeseburger and fries, washed down with a Starbucks Expresso DoubleShot that really hit the spot.

Later this afternoon, either the wife or the son will be stopping by here at work to give me a ride home, one hopes.  We'll see.

AAA Rocks!: Altima Flat Tire FIXED

    W00t!

Just got off the phone with my son AJ who stated that his car is in working condition once again.

According to AJ, The tow truck driver from Manhattan Beach Towing sent by the AAA changed the tire on his car "in like 30 seconds".  Of course, it wasn't 30 seconds literally, but my son was was trying to allude to the fact that they guy changed his tire with nearly ZERO EFFORT.

So, now the Altima's spare tire has been put on the car as the temporary right front tire and we will be going over to Pacific Tire in Lawndale to have them repair the flat tire, mount it on the proper rim and swap it out with the spare.  The spare will then be put back in the trunk, ready for the next time it needs to be used.

I freaking LOVE the AAA.  These people have bailed us out TWICE in the last 10 days with nary a hitch and with tremendous, efficient professional service.  Rock.
